Who We Are
Housing is the only thing that 40% of our community thinks about every day.
The risk of homelessness affects hundreds of individuals in our community, including families, seniors and youth. Despite all efforts and all the new building in our community, many still worry that they will lose their safe and stable housing. Our group, a bunch of local Nanaimo community members, neighbourhood associations, service clubs and others, is dedicated to driving change to ensure everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home.
Housing Nanaimo is a group of citizens that understand the need for everyone to be involved in the fight for affordable, safe housing. We work with all levels of government, local community groups and others, to advocate for permanent solutions to the affordable housing crisis. Other parts of the world have dealt successfully with housing challenges – we just need our elected officials at all levels to commit to the process and provide resources to get the job done.
